NIU Shooting



The Northern Illinois University police officials are probing in to shooting incident resulted in injuring one student on Friday at the DeKalb campus.
NIU campus was remained closed momentarily after when a student got wounded in gunshot incident near to residence hall. Such event was occurred in the NIU campus area while a restless and anxious student killed 21 people by gun firing.
As per University website information, the NIU shooting come into view to a “lonely incident amid two persons,” and one student was wounded and taken to Kishwaukee Hospital for medical treatment. His condition is out of danger now however no further details have been released about the nature of injury and wounds.
Soon after the NIU shooting incident, search operation was started in the campus and soon DeKalb police seceded in arresting the suspected shooter from the campus premises and now he is in police custody.
While after the detention of the alleged attacker, NIU campus was opened again shortly following the incident and student were advised to be present at their classes as normal.
Public Safety officials are giving advice to students to take precautionary measures in this regard. They have been directed to be cautious and vigilant to such an activity and inform at (815) 753-1212 or 911 to avoid such NIU shooting incident.
On 14 February, 2008 the similar kind of NIU shooting event took place when a university student Stephen Kazmierczak opened firing in the lecture hall causing assassination of five students and injuring sixteen other people before shooting himself. Those 5 students murdered in this incident were Daniel Parmenter, Gayle Dubowski, Julianna Gehant, Catalina Garcia and Ryanne Mace.
